The Post-graduation Program in Law aims at forming researchers with a broad mastery of their field of knowledge. It comprises a wide range of programed, advanced and individualized activities,\u00a0supervised\u00a0by an adviser, which include and give priority to teaching and research, always seeking the integration of knowledge. It has two terminal levels, the master\u2019s and\u00a0the\u00a0doctorate, differentiated by the breadth and depth of studies. It\u00a0is structured\u00a0around ten areas of concentration, which\u00a0link\u00a0the 33 lines of research and\u00a0the\u00a0147 research projects\u00a0in progress.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Program Regulations establish the following curricular structure for obtaining the degrees\u00a0granted, considering the standard that 01 credit corresponds to 15 hours\/class.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Academic Master\u2019s Degree<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Maximum period of 36 months\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

. 98 Credits, distributed as follows:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. 40 credits\u00a0must\u00a0be obtained through\u00a0both\u00a0the\u00a0approval in disciplines and special credits,\u00a0and a minimum of\u00a024 credits in disciplines must be taken. At the discretion\u00a0and subject to the\u00a0adviser\u2019s\u00a0consent, up to 16 credits can be obtained as special credits.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n
    1. 58\u00a0credits are attributed to the elaboration\u00a0and approval of the\u00a0Dissertation.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Doctorate (for those students who have a master\u2019s degree)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      . Maximum period of 36 months<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      . 156 credits, distributed as follows:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. 40 credits must be obtained through both the approval in disciplines and special credits, and a minimum of\u00a024\u00a0credits in disciplines must be taken.\u00a0At the discretion and subject to the adviser\u2019s consent, up to\u00a016\u00a0credits can be obtained as special credits.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
          \n
        1. 116 credits are attributed to the elaboration and approval of the Thesis.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Direct Doctorate (for\u00a0those students who do not have a master\u2019s degree)\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

          .<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Term 60 months<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

          .<\/span><\/b>\u00a0196 credits<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span><\/b>thus distributed:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

            \n
          1. 80 credits must be obtained\u00a0through the approval in disciplines and special credits,\u00a0and\u00a0a minimum\u00a0of\u00a048 credits in disciplines must be taken. At the discretion and subject to the\u00a0adviser\u2018s consent, up to 32 credits can be obtained as special credits.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
              \n
            1. 116 credits are attributed to the elaboration and approval of the Thesis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Special credits are considered in\u00a0accordance with\u00a0the Regulation of the PPGD:<\/span> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

                \n
              1. Complete work\u00a0 published in a national or international magazine that has a recognized\u00a0 editorial board and an adequate\u00a0 referential system (maximum\u00a0\u00a0 3 credits);<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                  \n
                1. Publication of complete work\u00a0 in annals, or similar, (maximum 2 credits);<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                    \n
                  1. Book or book chapter of renowned merit in the area of knowledge (maximum 2 credits);<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                      \n
                    1. Participation in scientific\u00a0 congress, with presentation of work, whose\u00a0 abstract\u00a0should\u00a0be\u00a0published in annals, or similar, (maximum 1 credit);<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                        \n
                      1. Programmed activities foreseen in the Program\u00a0 rules (maximum 2 credits);<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                          \n
                        1. Participation in the Program for the Improvement of Education (PAE) (4 credits)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                          Prior to the\u00a0defence\u00a0of the Dissertation\/Thesis, there is a qualification exam that must be carried out, after 3 academic semesters. For those\u00a0students\u00a0seeking the\u00a0doctorate degree, without having a master\u2019s degree, this exam must take place after 5 academic semesters. The Examining Committee is composed of 03 members (all of them hold a doctorate\u00a0degree),\u00a0whether\u00a0they have joined the\u00a0Program\u00a0or not, including the Advisor.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

                          The\u00a0Defense\u00a0Academic\u00a0Boards\u00a0are composed as follows:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

                            \n
                          1. Master\u2019s Degree: 03 professors,\u00a0out of which 02\u00a0are not part of\u00a0the PPGD,\u00a0and\u00a0\u00a001\u00a0of them\u00a0must not be from\u00a0\u00a0USP;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                              \n
                            1. Doctorate Degree: 05 professors,\u00a0out of which\u00a003\u00a0are not part of\u00a0the PPGD,\u00a0and\u00a001\u00a0of them\u00a0must not be from\u00a0USP;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                              In\u00a0both\u00a0cases, the Advisor\u00a0chairs\u00a0the\u00a0session,\u00a0without the right to vote,\u00a0and\u00a0does\u00a0not\u00a0take part\u00a0in\u00a0the minimum number mentioned above.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
