The\u00a0Postgraduate program<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>of the Law School (PPGD)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>of the University<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0S\u00e3o Paulo (FDUSP), linked\u00a0to\u00a0the Pro-Rectorate of graduate studies\u00a0of USP<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>(University of S\u00e3o Paulo), was<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>established\u00a0in 1970, through\u00a0the then Professor Miguel Reale\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>decree gr n.1.211, dated June 15\u00a0and it\u00a0has been<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in uninterrupted activity, since 1971. It is the oldest<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Law\u00a0Post<\/span>–<\/span>graduation<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Program in operation in Brazil, after the reformulation\u00a0of the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201cParecer\u00a0Sucupira\u201d, (Sucupira Opinion)\u00a0in\u00a01965.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Over its almost 50 years, it\u00a0has\u00a0founded and disseminated the postgraduate studies in Law in Brazil and many of its graduates participated actively in the foundation of several Postgraduate\u00a0Programs\u00a0in our Country, which highlights<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>its function\u00a0of contributing to the formation of\u00a0a\u00a0qualified<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>staff<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in any of the different<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>legal\u00a0professions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>It is, therefore, a breeding ground for teachers and Legal researchers<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>either\u00a0by<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>its seniority\u00a0or\u00a0by\u00a0the good quality of\u00a0its\u00a0academic career production.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this sense, the Program follows the pioneering<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Law School from the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (USP), which was founded on August 11, 1827<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0located, since then,\u00a0in the Largo de S\u00e3o Francisco, in the old<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>center of the city of S\u00e3o Paulo, which is about to celebrate<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>200 years of existence. Its creation was contemporary\u00a0with the Olinda Faculty of Law, in the State of Pernambuco and has brought to Brazil, the geopolitical\u00a0heart\u00a0for Brazilian legal studies, which were then concentrated in the University of Coimbra, in Portugal.\u00a0From that initial milestone, the\u00a0Legal knowledge was spread, forming cadres to make up the Brazilian legal and political strata, as well as other Law Schools have been created in the Country, at the various levels, such as\u00a0the Law School<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0in Rio de Janeiro, in 1882 (current\u00a0UFRJ), in Minas Gerais, in 1892 (current<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>UFMG), in Par\u00e1, in 1902 (current UFPA),\u00a0in Cear\u00e1, in 1903 (current UFC), in Paran\u00e1 in 1912 (current UFPR) and in Para\u00edba, in 1949 (current UFPB). Currently, 05 out of the 11<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Associate Justices\u00a0of the STF were students<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>or\u00a0have\u00a0now\u00a0teaching links with<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>USP\u00a0Law School\u00a0and with the PPGD.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In spite of all their traditions, both the PPGD and the Law School (USP)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>are bang\u00a0up to date, producing knowledge, towards solving national problems,\u00a0within\u00a0the wide range\u00a0of the legal science, related to\u00a0their\u00a0areas, lines and research projects.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is a very\u00a0relevant\u00a0Program in the national scene<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>due to its historical importance and\u00a0the up<\/span>\u00a0\u2013<\/span>to<\/span>–<\/span>date studies, as it was recognized by CAPES,\u00a0that assigned a\u00a0score\u00a06 in the last four-year period, which was the highest\u00a0score awarded\u00a0in the Area<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0throughout the entire history of the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>assessment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the national scene, the Program follows the same prominence attributed to the Law School\u00a0in the national rankings, such as\u00a0the\u00a0Ranking Universitario da Folha (RUF), which placed it 10<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0in Brazil.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is also worth mentioning the prominence of the USP Law School in the international scene, as it is shown by the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2020, which has ranked the USP\u00a0Law School\u00a0as the\u00a047<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0best law school in the world and\u00a0ranked\u00a0the 2<\/span>nd<\/span>\u00a0best in Latin America, after the Pontificia Universidad\u00a0Catolica\u00a0de Chile (UC\/Chile).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
