Mission
The general objective of the Post–graduation Program is to train qualified legal staff, with solid theoretical training, interdisciplinary approach and a high critical capacity, to act on behalf of the Brazilian society, either through its insertion in public bodies of the different federated units, or through the performance in private corporations or the third sector.
This way, the objective is to disseminate the legal knowledge already established and to broaden the frontiers of legal research aiming at finding solutions to the existing problems in the Brazilian society, as well as to train teachers and researchers for Brazilian and foreign higher education institutions. In this sense, it seeks the materialization of advanced researches for certain themes of the legal field, contribution with changes in the legal system, fostering the construction of new decision-making models and institutional practices consistent with a pluralist, complex and democratic society.
Objectives
Based on the abovementioned objectives, and in view of the diversity of ethnicity, gender socio–economic status and geographical origin of lecturers and students, the aim is for graduates to have legal knowledge, based on solid foundations , on national and foreign doctrines , as well as on national and international jurisprudence , with a strong sensitivity to existing socio-economic problems, and with a plural training , so as to be able to analyse and criticize the various theories presented for the solution of existing problems.
The profile above outlined is used essentially for the training or improvement of teachers and researchers, in Brazil and in Latin America, as well as for the other legal professions, public and private.
