PAE – Programa de Aperfeiçoamento de Ensino (Teaching Improvement Program)

PAE – The Teaching Improvement Program is regulated by the Ordinance GR 3588, dated May 10, 2005, and it is intended for students enrolled in Master’s and Doctorate courses. 

Its main objective is to enhance the training of post-graduating students for didactic teaching activities and its composition consists of two stages: 

  1. Pedagogic Preparation; 
  2. Supervised internship in Teaching 

Stage of Pedagogic Preparation 

The stage of pedagogic preparation can have different characteristics, according to three modalities: 

  1. Post-Graduation course offering credits, the content of which is focused on the issues of the University and Higher Education; 
  2. Set of conferences, with specialists in the field of Education, condensed in a shorter period, whose theme is Higher Education issues; 
  3. Core activities, involving preparation of teaching material, curriculum discussions, course menus and course planning, coordinated by teachers. 

Supervised Internship Stage 

The Supervised Internship Stage in teaching is carried out specifically in undergraduate disciplines. At the end of the internship, after completing the formalities, participants who obtain satisfactory performance are entitled to a certificate and they receive credits for the activity. 

The Program is optional for Post-Graduation students, except for those who are awarded the CAPES Social Demand Scholarship, whose regulation requires an internship.
